Subject:SF10 Mono/ Stereo File Selection Range

By double clicking on a stereo file I can select the entire file. By clicking towards the top of the screen I can select the Left part of the file. Clicking on the bottom part selects the Right.

Is there some way to adjust this selection range? In other words, at what point above or below the centre line, the file is selected as mono or stereo. In SF10, when working on stereo files at speed, I'm frequently grabbing a mono half when I want the whole file. I would like to be able to have only the extremities of the file respond to mono selection.

I hope that makes sense :-)
Many Thanks
Weka

If I'm understanding you correctly, you want to be sure to click in the area between the two channels (the area below the left channel's lower -6dB line and above the right channel's upper -6dB line).

Hope this helps,
Matt

Yes, but I'm saying it's too narrow a range. I'd like to have the range in which the entire (stereo) file is selected to be greater. For example, set to the "infinity" points rather than the -6dB points. Ideally, I'd like to be able to adjust this.

(Here's why. Currently I'm doing audio for CD-ROM's. I'm cutting and naming thousands of files from long stretches of spoken audio. I'm good at this and can do it very quickly using a left-handed track-ball mouse with my other hand typing. However, I'm forever grabbing sections outside of -6dB range, thus slowing the process and adding monotony onto monotony) .

Thanks for your help
W

Just checked back to SF 8 and note that these points are set to the "infinity" mark. This is why I'm having the problem!

If you enable the channel-selection lock in the upper left corner, the vertical mouse position in the window will be ignored as you make selections. When channel-selection lock is enabled, you can still use Tab to cycle through channels or Ctrl+LButton or Shift+LButton to include/exclude subsets of channels.
