I'm running sound forge 9.0d and can't seem to find a quick easy way to remove silence in a recording (WAV File). My creative sound blaster app has a tool to remove silence and it deletes the silence out of the begining and end of a recording I've done. I'd like to be able to do this in sound forge so I don't have to jump back to that old creative application but can't find any tool to do it quickly. The only way I see to trim silence in sound forge is to trim it manually. Does an addin exist for it? Thanks! Message last edited on12/6/2009 9:57:10 PM bystingray327. |

This function (and more) is included in the capabilities of the Auto Trim/Crop tool. Just click on Process|Auto Trim/Crop and choose the "Trim silence from ends" preset. The standard settings will probably suit most material fairly well but if it is being a bit harsh or not harsh enough you can adjust the thresholds and fade times to suit your material better. Mark |

Hmm, I don't have that option. I'm using Soudn Forge 9.0d. What version are you using? I have the regular Trim/Crop tool but no Auto one. Thanks ! |

I'm using Sound Forge V.9.0e, but the Auto Trim/Crop function has been in SF since V.5.0 (and possibly even before). Are you sure you are using Sound Forge? I suspect that you are actually using Sound Forge Audio Studio which is a cheaper, cut-down, version of the full.Sound Forge, with a number of features missing (possibly including Auto Trim/Crop). That must be it. My sound forge is part of the Vegas studio pro pack. So I guess I must of posted in the wrong spot? But still good to know, I think I'll have to upgrade to that full version then. Mine says "Sound Forge Audio Studio, Version 9.0d (Build 232)" in the About section. |
