I take it you want to send MIDI data to the Motif? How you do this depends on what version of ACID or ACID Music Studio you are using. ACID essentially treats all MIDI 'devices' the same, whether they are soft-synths or hardware. What you need to figure out is which external MIDI port your Motif is connected to. This port needs to be enabled in your ACID MIDI Preferencs. You then route your MIDI tracks to this output. Unless you are using ACID Pro 7, you will have to mix the output of the Motif using an external mixer or record the output of the Motif to an audio track. In ACID Pro 7 you can set up a send bus and a input bus to permit the mixing of the Motif directly in the project. You should use ASIO drivers a low latency to achieve the best results. You then use ACID Pro 7's real-time rendering functionality to produce your final mix as a Wave audio file. Peter |

so this will not work without an external MIDI port? the motif has a USB port, which I connect to my pc. Acid is able to see the Motif. and Im also able to hear the motif and record midi notes. but I am un able to hear anything that I recorded with the motif when playing back? I see the V.U meters but no sound. Message last edited on11/23/2009 6:40:16 AM byiamser. |

I have a Motif 6. I can record and send MIDI data to the Motif using the USB MIDI Drivers of the Motif. You don't have things configured or routed correctly to use the Motif. How do you have things routed from your MIDI track? Do you have the output of the Motif enabled in your MIDI Prefs? What channel are you sending to the Motif? If you draw notes on a MIDI track and play to the Motif, do you hear them? If you import a MIDI file into ACID and rout it to the Motif, do you hear them? The more details you provide me the better. How do you have things routed from your MIDI track? Do you have the output of the Motif enabled in your MIDI Prefs? yes, I checked all the outputs available, and I also tried on channel at a time. What channel are you sending to the Motif? I believe channel 1-thats what it says on the Motif display in the midi settings. If you draw notes on a MIDI track and play to the Motif, do you hear them? no If you import a MIDI file into ACID and rout it to the Motif, do you hear them? no The more details you provide me the better. I have one midi cbale going into the INon my Motif from the Midi keyboard. I have a cable going from the Motif into the LINE IN on my pc. and I have the USB cable going from my Motif to the PC. |

You say you have a Motif. Is it a rack-mount sound module or a keyboard version? And which vintage? Original (I think it's called Classic now), XS, ES? I have an original Motif 7 keyboard version and never could get both the USB MIDI and traditional MIDI ports to work together at the same time. And exactly what are you trying to record in Acid? The Motif's audio output? Jack |

its rack mount/tone generator. I believe its the classic cauise on the motif website it's under the retired section. Im just trying to hear the instruments from the motif when I play it back, which figured out. I know with the motif keyboards you have to press the utility button and F5. that will call up the mididpage and from there you hav to scroll down and change the midi in/out to USB, then Acid and the motif will communicate. The rack mount didnt have the F5 command so I just figured the In/OUt setting was under the Midi section under utility. and that has seemed to solve my problem, but Im waiting for confrimation from SonyPC |
