I just posted this as a support request. I know how slow support here can be so thought I'd post here to see if anyone has found any solutions.

Hi

I've installed Sound Forge 9 on a new Windows 7 64 bit installation and mouse wheel zooming functionality is entirely broken. I'm using a Microsoft Explorer Mouse with the latest Windows 7 64 bit drivers. Have also tried earlier drivers to no avail.

I installed the Forge 10 demo to and have exactly the same problem, with Vegas 8 too. However, scroll wheel functionality is fine with every other vendor's applications - DAWs, office and general software. Sadly something is definitely broken with the Sony software in this regard.

As a user of Sound Forge for over a decade for my business, I am wholy dependent on the mouse wheel zoom functionality and cannot use the program without it. To discover this seems to be a problem across your entire product range is very disappointing indeed and a real issue for me and many other users.

I recently purchased the rather expensive wireless laser mouse that I'm using as it's the only one I find ergonomic, so am understandly hesitant to switch to another type or brand. I can however confirm that zoom does seem to be working with my Cirque Easy Cat touchpad, so the problem does seem to be related to the Sony apps and Microsoft mice in Windows 7. I can't tell you whether or not this problem exhibits itelf in the 32 bit version as well or with non-Microsoft mice. But Microsoft have a hold on the mouse market so this is a real problem!

I'd be very grateful if you could help me with this frustrating problem and let me know when it will be resolved. I hope very soon.

Kind regards

Ben

Are you using the drivers included with win7, or the win7 Intellimouse software? When you installed SF, did you run as admin?
Have you tried running SF as admin, or set compatibility to Vista or XP?

Had the prob back when Vista was new (when I *think* I was using a MS mouse), but with later drivers and/or Vista updates it went away if I remember correctly. FWIW my Logtitech VX Nano seems to be fine in all Sony apps, new & old in 7 64.

Must be driver issue: my Logitech G7 has no such problem.

Thanks for both your replies. Yes it's a driver issue, and obviously a MS mouse issue - but a lot of people have MS mice! The significant thing is, this problem occurs even without Intellipoint installed - so whatever happens with the drivers doesn't seem like it's going to solve it.

I'd be interested in hearing Sony's take on this. I don't get on with Logitech mice, FWIW...

I know this thread is old, but I've just come across the problem described here (the scroll wheel on microsoft mice refuses to zoom properly - see the thread) and was wondering if anyone has a solution, or if sony or ms has come up with something...

thanks...

OK... almost another year and a half has gone by. I just discovered this problem on my Win 7 x64 system with SF 10 and an MS wireless mouse. Anyone?

The weird thing is that I've been using this setup for over a year and have not noticed this problem till now. So I'm pretty sure it was working till now.

Small world, Dave.
I just bought a wireless MS mouse. Yep, mouse wheel is very very sluggish. And it works great on everything, including SAWStudio.

Did you ever figure it out?

Same problem here with Win7 64-bit, MS Wireless Mouse 5000 and SF Pro 10.

Several mouse-wheel related function does not work.

Any idea?

I know this is an old thread, but I was having this problem recently (Windows 7 64-bit). I uninstalled the Microsoft "Mouse and Keyboard Center" and the problem disappeared.
