Hello.... I need help.

Specs:
Sony Acid 7.0C
Windows Vista Ultra x64bit

I have a project where I have with 24 seperate tracks each with a different size soundbite on each track. When I go to render, I select as .wav and check the "save each track as a seperate file". The results are not as they should be. Each render is identical in length, as long as the longest soundbite. They are NOT unique, they are the same size. I have tried to render in different formats also, that did not work.
I have not tried this on a XP platform, yet I have done this before I a previous machine with XP and everything was fine. I do not have that option any longer though.
Can anyone duplicate this or has anyone seen this problem?

thanks

I believe you are getting exactly what should be expected and what you are supposed to get. Render looks at the project as a whole, from the beginning of the timeline to the end of the last event.

If you need each track's contents rendered as a file containing only that one sound bite then you need to double-click the one in the first track to select it, solo that track, and render with "loop region only" selected. Repeat for each track.

I may be a bit confused about what you are trying to accomplish. Are all these sound bites supposed to be mixed together simultaneously? That would seem to be the purpose for having them all in the same project. If not, why are they all in the same project?

thanks for your reply but...

then what is "save each track as a seperate file" option for?
I have done this before on an XP machine and it worked great. Each track can and will be rendered as it's on individual file. It's much more efficient than doing each soundbite as it's own project, or rendering each track manually as you suggest. Have you ever tried rendering, then select the "save each track as a seperate file"? It's much quicker, when it works.

Again, I have used this method before and it worked fine.

Probably the most useful purpose for that function is to create a set of separate track files to export to other multi-track editing software. In that case having each file contain the entire length of the project is desirable as it maintains sync.

Personally, i would find doing each sound bite as it's own project to be simpler and easier than trying to use a single project for ... well ... multiple projects.

From your description, ACID is doing as it was designed to do - and always has done.

I tested ACID Pro 7, Pro 6, and Pro 5. All behave the same on XP. I tested ACID Pro 7 on Vista, Vista 64, and Win7 64 with the same results.

The "save each track as a seperate file" is intended to render each track to a file that is equivalent to the project length. The intent is to allow you to take your project to another host such as Vegas. If the length of the rendered files was not equal, then the level of difficulty in using the rendered files in a different host would be extreme as you would have to manually match up each file with out any guidance as to their locations relative to each other.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding what you have seen before or the process you used.

Peter
