Subject:Problem with bogus plugins in ACID Pro - can they be removed?

I bought a Sound Blaster LIVE! Platinum card and installed
it along with some of the software that comes with it a few
months ago. I had been busy doing some web projects and
didn't notice until recently that there are a couple of
bogus plug-ins listed in the FX effects tab that are
related to the Sound Blaster card and not ACID. Namely,
Lava Filter and PVTTimeScale Plugin. Lava is display
program that makes moving imagery to music - ugh... and I
have no idea exactly what is associated with the other plug-
in. Needless to say, they don't work in ACID and give me an
error message if clicked on. They don't crash the program
or seem to cause any problems with ACID, but my list of
plugins is long enough without having bogus listings in the
drop down box. Is there a way to remove these listings? And
if so, how do I do it.

I did uninstall the Lava Player because I don't care about
visual effects while listening to music - I use a stereo
home theatre system for music playback, not a PC. But it is
still listed as a plugin. It's just an annoyance that I
would like to be rid of.

Alien,

The reason those plugins are showing up is because they are
registered as DirectX plugins on your computer, so
regardless if the have auditory purposes or not, they're
going to show up in your list. This is unavoidable as the
DX scanner has no way of telling the "important" plugins
from the "useless" ones. If you want to unistall/manage
your plugins, try this:

http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/audio/dxman.htm

It's called DXMan, a freeware DX plugin manager. Move,
change, delete, etc. It should suit your needs just fine.

Have fun,
Nick LaMartina
