Subject:Auto Select All - SF10a

Hi,

In SF 10a, I notice that if I run a process on an entire file, SF automatically selects all for me. Previous versions just ran the process without selecting all and I preferred this. Any way to stop SF 10a selecting all when I don't want it to? I'm fully aware that my process is being run on the entire file with SF having to do this.

Thanks in advance.
Walt

Unless there's a setting I'm not aware of.... this characteristic started in SF-9.
It does not exhibit this behavior in the plug-in chainer mode, if that will float your boat better.

Thanks rraud. I never used SF9 so this is new to me. Just want to run processes straight by clicking an icon as I'd be doing this a lot in a given project. This quirk just bugs me as selecting all seems unnecessary.

Appreciate the response, though.

FWIW Walt, it functions the same as all the previous SF versions, it just displays different.
I prefer the current display, but that's subjective.

Well that's not entirely true, rraud. The process I'm executing functions the same, yes, but now it's selected when I don't want it to be. I usually play a file straight after running a process, but the colours of the selected audio aren't as easy to look at as that of deselected audio. So now, in SF10a, I have to click to deselect my audio first, which I'm not in the habit of doing. This may seem like nit picking to some, but if you add up all these seemingly-minor gripes, they total a more frustrating editing experience than I'm used to with SF. I just wish these things were cutsomisable in a CFG file or something.

You're absolutely correct Walt, I had not noticed that since I mostly use plug-in chains.
SF-9 does NOT exhibit this behavior and deselects after the process completes.
Perhaps this can be fixed in update 10b. Forum Admin?

Thanks, rraud. Hopefully 10b will address this and other issues.

Cheers,

I agree that the current selection behavior is redundant when applying effects to the entire file. This will be addressed in future updates and/or versions.
