Subject:Selecting the input source for recording

I have a yamaha sound card. I am trying to record from a
DAT player into the line input of the card but Sound Forge
is not seeing the audio. It is connected correctly because
I can hear the audio through my speakers hooked to the same
card.

Open the Windows volume control by double clicking the
yellow speaker icon by your computer's clock. Once the
play control window comes up, go to the Options menu and
select "Properties". Select "Recording" under "Adjust
Volume For" and where it says "Show the Following Volume
Controls", make sure everything is selected. Now
click "OK" and you will get a recording control window.
Under each volume control is a box marked "Select". Make
sure that the one under your source (probably "line in") is
selected and that the volume is turned up about three
quarters of the way. If the music is too loud or quiet
when you record it, you can come back to this window and
adjust the volume as necessary.
