Subject:Compressors

I'm new at this digital recording. Someone recommended a
compressor between my mikes and the computer. I'm
considering the Presonus Blue Max. Any comments on this
particular one or compressors in general. I'm recording a
large blues band.

Compression to "tape" is a matter of taste if you ask me.
Are you using a pre-amp?Im thinking you must be or if your
not you have gotten far into the digital rec. thing.Its a
must!
I used to compress to tape but i felt like it squished the
sound to much.Now i pick certain tracks to comprees and i
use the onbord compression.
I love all the pre-sonus line.
I have a blue tube and its great.
