Hi all, I'm trying to get used to SF 10, but compared to previous versions, I'm finding it quite sluggish or slow. For instance, sometime I click to place the play bar somewhere and immediately press 'M' for a marker, but more often than not, the marker doesn't appear and I have to press 'M' again. I never had this issue in previous versions of SF and it's frustrating my editing sessions. Is it just that it's not reading inputs quickly enough? I also find the same thing with other functions, not just pressing 'M'. For instance, I place the cursor somewhere and press SPACEBAR to play the section, but play is not initiated. I press the SPACEBAR again and then it works. Any help you can give would be appreciated. Thanks, Walt |

Please fill in your system specs in your forum profile. Regardless, it's more likely that the mouse button is still down at the time you hit a key, at least for the marker thing. If you are certain that is not the case, it would be helpful if you could elaborate just a little more on your workflow and the behavior you expect. J. Hi J, I've been off the forum for a few weeks, but have filled in my system specs now. Please let me know if they're displaying. Not sure about this sluggishness. I have years of experience using SF 4.5, 5.0, 7.0 and 8.0 and have never come across this. In those versions, if I clicked to place the cursor and immediately pressed M, a marker would appear every time. In this version (10a), it sometimes ignores the M command. Pressing M again does the trick, but I never had to do this in previous versions of SF. Maybe it's something to do with another issue I raised, regarding markers intermittently not appearing where the playback cursor is, but rather where the cursor was last placed. This latter issue sounds like a bug so perhaps they're related? By the way, the nature of the work I'm doing is editing dialogue. I need to locate key sentences, mark them up, and drag them out into a file of their own. The sluggishness of the markers happens in the master file, when I'm trying to mark up a chunk of audio for further editing. Thanks, Walt |

I'm having a similar problem. These are fairly large files (60+ minutes). When I do a Paste-Mix or a File Save, SF 10a ends up in a Not Responding state or it just freezes up in an "hourglass" state. In the hourglass state, the mouse is still functional, but if I try to Cancel the File-Save, it says a "process is underway. Do you want to cancel" (something like that). If I say yes I get "an error occurred" message and then everything is frozen and the display corrupted. On the same computer, SF6 did not act this way. thanks for any help. |
