Is there a way to open a MP3 file in sound forge and see what the current bitrate of that file is. I looked under the properties and can't seem to find anything regarding bitrate? It doesn't give any clue on bitrate either when I open an MP3, this has got to be somewhere in Sound Forge/ the new streaming media program? Thanks, Brian Franz |

There is no way to do this in Sound Forge, and I don't think Windows Media Player will tell you either. Winamp can actually do this though, and it's free. Ted |

Actually, Windows Media Player 7.x does tell you the bitrate. Watch the green text on its bottom toolbar, where it shows artist and copyright information. Eventually it will show you the bitrate in Kbits per second. Nick LaMartina |

Thanks for the replies, this just adds another step in a collection of MP3 files on working on. |

If you plan on using Acid Pro for, or alongside, any of your work, take notice to Acid Pro 3's new explorer window. It now supports MP3's, and reports the bitrate, as well as other attributes instantly. Perhaps we'll see a similar feature in Sound Forge 5.0a? Nick LaMartina |
