Hi, I'm using VST cell sequencer X-Wheel of Fortune 6 from : http://www.hgf-synthesizer.de/ This VST generates music according to cell arrange. I can hear music but I can't configure ACID to record that (because there is no way to route MIDI output to AUDIO track). Recording gives nothing because sequencer do not generate MIDI events and creates an empty clip - as a consequence I can't use RENDER TO NEW TRACK functions. Does anybody know how to copy with this situation ? Best regards, |

ACID does not permit you to record the audio output of a VSTi. You can only record MIDI. From the web site for this, it says the paid version does produce MIDI output that can be recorded. The full version also permits you to send MIDI to the VSTi. * MIDI Out: Pro for all internally generated note events / in Free = not present * MIDI In: Free only for MID CC while Pro offers MIDI In for playing notes and triggering instruments Do you have the full version or the free version? Did you add this VSTi as a Soft-synth? If you have the full version, the you should be able to create a MIDI track and route the output of this synth as a input to the MIDI track. edit... I just tried this out, the free version does not send MIDI data back to the host, so there is no way to record MIDI. It also appears that it does not pay attention to the ACID's tempo, position, or loop selection, so it makes it kind of useless. Peter Message last edited on11/2/2009 8:50:05 AM bypwppch. |

Hi Peter, My config is : AMS 7.0a (build 157) and I use this soft as VST. You have found solutions of this specific problem - i did not notice that full version allows me to send MIDI event back to the host. I'm considering to upgrade audio soft from AMS to ACID PRO (actually I'm Vegas user but sometimes I need also music apps). You have mentioned in other post (recording analog) that there is a special mode in ACID PRO : real time rendering. Please tell me : If I had ACID PRO it would be possible to record from free version of Wheel of Fortune VST ? There is a lot of VSTs which operates in similar mode : they are automatic music generators (in place of sound bank you have ready to use templates of music). I have found it useful in some LoFi creation insted of buing content (expensive) or creating serious music (time consuming). This is the reason that I'm interested to know how to record to audio from VSTs which DO NOT send back midi events to host. Best regards. |

If I had ACID PRO it would be possible to record from free version of Wheel of Fortune VST ? No, you cannot record the output of a soft-synth to an audio track. ACID's model is to send MIDI data to a soft-synth and the soft-synth produces output that is mixed as part of a project. I don't understand why you need to do this. The intent of this plug-in is to auto generate. You connect it as you have, and the compose around it in ACID. You can try rendering a MIDI track routed to this VSTi, but you will need to put a blank MIDI event on the track, or ACID will not "see" anything to render. There is a lot of VSTs which operates in similar mod... Can you provide some examples so I can look at them? Peter |

In this moment I have only two : SunRa from Elogoxa and Whell of Fortune from HG Fortune. But I can remember that I had about ten other examples (downloaded from KVR and free) of cell sequencers, step sequencers or algorytimic VSTs. All of them without producing MIDI event and not sensitive for keyboard commands - just generating music. I have deleted this stuff because of lack of possibility to record. What I can see from Your description is that only way is to record for external recorder like Boss Micro BR and then import waves to AMS. Best ragards, |

Hi, I have realized that there is simple solution for this kind of problem - actually this is the same case as recording streams from internet players. There is implemented mechanism in Vista to do that - right click on volume icon on task bar, then show recording devices, then right click on white area in order to achieve show hidden devices and enable STEREO MIX device. Now I can record in AMS every VST music generator. Best regards, Message last edited on11/23/2009 2:26:40 AM byRRA. |
