Subject:changing bitrate from 96 to 160,can i do it?

after recording from phono to computer i have found out my
bitrate is 96, well i need to change it to 160 or over , im
new to the soundforge or recording in general,so any help
would be greatly be appreciated,vashon rannow

I think you are mixing up mp3 bitrates with audio sample
rates. CD quality audio has a sample rate of 44.1KHz
(44,100Hz). If you recorded a file that has a sample rate
of 96KHz, that is going to have more twice the resolution
that CD audio has. Keep in mind that all audio will have
to be truncated to 16-bit, 44.1KHz in order to be burned to
a CD.
