Subject:add a new track and acid 7.0c freezes??

Hi - i have a problem when adding a new track - whether i click on Insert or take a control-Q shortcut to add a new track - Acid 7.0c freezes on me. The blue title bar across the top of the Acid window flickers between light blue and dark blue. The program freezes and is non-responsive. Has anyone else had this happen to them? It happened about a month ago and i tried a reinstall. It seemed to solve the problem but this week it started happening again. If anyone has a possible solution - I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks in advance for your time and patience, dave |

Please fill out your system specs and mark them as visible in your user profile. I will need some more information. How is the project set up when this happens. Does it always happen whether there is a project started already? Does it happen when you start a new project? Are you using external MIDI? What audio hardware are you using? Are you using ASIO drivers? Do you have any plugins in the project when this happens? If so, which ones? The more details, the better. Peter |

Hi Peter - thanks for offering your help. I just updated my specs; thanks for the reminder. This problem is now happening all the time. When I open a new project and insert a track; the program freezes and the blue title bar at the top of the window flashes light blue and dark blue. I went to an older project and recorded a track; it went well until the track was finished and i had to save what i recorded. When i tried to save the track - I had the same freezing and flashing of light and dark blue along the title bar. This happens even when there is no MIDI being used - I use mainly internal MIDI when I do use MIDI. This happens when i'm using or not using plug-ins. I do use ASIO drivers on some projects; but when i open a new project and add/insert a track - this freezing happens right away. I hope these details help you to diagnose the problem. I've been using ACID for years (I still have the box for 2.0 - LOL) -but I've only experienced this with 7.0. I've tried every trick I have to solve this; I ended up re-installing the software and it worked fine for a month and then this freezing started again, Thanks for your time and patience, dave |

Try reseting ACID's preferences: Hold down the shift+ctrl key when while you are starting ACID. This will force ACID to a default state. If it solves the problem, then keep track of any preferences you change or settings that you make that make the problem reoccur. Peter |

Hi Peter - just to let you know - I double-checked to make sure that my files and projects were backed up properly and then I did a complete uninstall and re-installed the software. It seemed to have done the trick! All my effects and virtual synths were not effected and are ready to rock. Thanks again for your advice and patience; your efforts were greatly appreciated! dave |

I'm having the exact same problem. All of a sudden Acid hates my Presonus 1394. I didn't have this happen before. There was a large MS patch Tuesday released. Could it be some of the latest MS updates that messed it up? |
