SF 5 doesn't see my CD or CD-R drives and I must say I'm pretty disapointed. Did we get a Final Beta
build pushed out the door before the final fixes were applied to make deadline? Whats up with that? When
can I expect a fix?

are you by chance using windows 2000 with a VIA chipset
board?
i have the same problem as you and i have the above
configuration and i am forming an opinion based on my
experince and the gentleman who posted earlier with that
problem i know for sure he uses win2k and has an athalon
computer and i think they are VIA based boards could be i'm
barking up the wrong tree cuz i just use'em i don't build em
but hey gotta learn somehow.

It doesn't have to be a VIA Board.
I had the same Problem running W2k on a Siemens Board with
an Intel 820 Chipset and Intel's Ultra ATA Busmaster Driver.
The problem already started while still running SF4.5 and
CDA.
Removed the Ultra ATA Busmaster Driver.
Bingo, CDA is working again.
And SF5 has no longer problems finding the CD-Drive and
the Plextor Burner

How did you remove the ATA driver?

just run the 4 in 1 set up and check that driver, on the
next screen it will ask you what you want to do with it.
or (recomended) go to VIA's website and download the fix
for it called 4in1 4.29 and install that they say in the
notes that this update hobbles the drives at UTA 66 unitl
service pack 2 from microsoft comes out (the bug is win2k's
fault)it will make the SCSI listings go away and it will
work .
