I got Acid to pick up my keyboard, finally. Now, for some
reason, when I record ANYTHING, i get an error box with the
following message: "An error occured while starting
playback. An Unsupported Media Type was requested."
It just stopped working one day! I didn't do anything
different, it used to work, now it doesn't. This is NOT in
the FAQ, so someone PLEAZE help.

I got the same error... SoundForge & Win98 are both playing
the files, but ACID doesn´t... strange...

Alright man here's the prob. You are trying to record at a
higher or lower rate that your audio card can not handle.
What you need to do is go under your options and set your
audio record to be at 44khz and 16-bit. If you have ACID
set to record anything higher then you will get the error
message that your getting. Of course now I don't know what
audio card you are using. Most pro cards come with
software that allows you to manipulate the input and output
settings. So if you have let's say i.e. your sound card
input at 44khz 16-bit and ACID is set to record at 48khz 24-
bit then you will get an error because ACID does not
understand the rate and speed at which you want to record.
You have to make sure that both your sound cards frequency
and decible range match/sync the input and output of ACID.
It will then work just fine. You got further questions
mail me at msymphony@kuer-int.com.

Naaah, something else must be broken. I have the same problem, but I've gone through all of the steps and it
still doesn't work. Even "defaulted" the settings under preferences, and used 22050, etc. What is weird is now
it will play the loops by themselves, but any songs that I've written - forget it. Same error. Sux...

I just got an audiophile2496 and on their website they said
w/ windows2k a problem could arise because the MS Kmixer
adds a 30ms delay which doesn't work running through the
sound card to applications such as Sound Forge. I think MS
may have some sort of upgrade or download which allows us
to bypass the Kmixer, but I think acid would need an
upgrade as well, thus an unsupported media popup, but I am
not sure. going to msn.com I'll forward anything I find.

This is how bad this sux...

Recently I did a remix of the TUBES - Mondo Bondage,
It was still a bit rough but passable. Last night, I finally
got to see the band who were very good and met them
afterward...they were excited to here about the remix.

But since I couldn't record a version due to this
problem, I was not able to pass on a copy of my work
via CD. It's a common problem both with 98 and 2000,
(I'm on 2000) why hasn't it been addressed?

If anyone gets a fix please email me!

This simply is not the case! Start a new project and it's
fine...it's the completed ones that have gone bad.

Just out of curiosity...are we all using forge 5.0? Could it
be something with the new program?

Hagbard,
I formatted my hard drive and backed several projects up on
CD-R. They, like yours, work in Sound Forge, but will not
work in acid, though that is where i made them. They are
all completed, so I am about to try mixing them to a new
wav file and see what happens. Try it and see what you get.
