I'm new to the acid pro series. I'm trying to wrap my head around all the options on the install cd. I'm trying to figure what the different features are, and what I need.
I have no idea what the "media manager" or "preset manager" is, or if I need them.
I also am confused on the loop reference library.

I record all my own beats and audio clips, so I would have no need for pre-made beats or loops. And of course I would like to conserve space on my computer.

Under the "content" menu there is
1 custom sound sets and songs
2 loops and songs
3 sony sound series sampler

do I need any of these. They are quite large files.
I do of course want the dsl instruments and vst instruments.

Thanks Acid users!
Brian

If you have no interest in using pre-made loops, then I see no reason to install these. I've debated uninstalling all this from my machine, as I have no use for it either. Much of it is really teasers to tempt you to buy the full loop set anyway. I also have never used the dsl synth, I'm sure you have other VSTi synths and/or samplers.....

Be sure to install the amp sims, kitcore and such.... good high quality stuff.

install media manager/preset manager. it's a great feature in AP7. what is media manager? it manages your media ! it really comes in handy.

i like media manager because u can preview any of your audio files quickly.

to view MEDIA MANAGER,
ALT+5
or
go up to the menu, view, check MEDIA MANAGER.

You should really make use of the INTERACTIVE TUTORIALS inside AP7.
just go up to the menu, help, INTERACTIVE TUTORIALS.
They helped me out alot when i first installed AP7.

Re Media manager, don't get your hopes up to high...I have never got it to work properly, and from what I've read, neither have a lot of other people. I just use explorer, and have my music files organized to my liking on my pc.

Media Manager works fine, but you need to put in a lot of work cataloguing your loops. If you don't use commercial libraries, its probably not worth the performance hit at startup.

The free content supplied with Acid comprises (a) sampler teasers of their commercial libraries, and (b) genuine free loop content (big chunks of it). You probably don't want (a), but why don't you try (b) off the CD to see if you like it? If you do, then copy it across to your HD for future use. It's handy to have if you just need (say) a range of drum loops to make a quick backing track.

Hey thanks again!
I went through some of the tutorials, but I couldn't seem to find
what I wanted. The tutorials seem limited compared to the scope of
what the software to is capable of.

+1 to runman.... I got rid of the media manager and just use the built in explorer. You can preview sounds in the explorer and I also keep my midi, samples and loops organized so it's easy to find.... plus you can add favorites and make it quick to get to directories...

The media manager in Acid to me was like the media bay in Cubase, just bloated and cranky. But, that is just MY experience....
