Subject:Upgrading from Acid Pro 6 to Vista 64

*Thanks in advance* for any info! A simple and possibly silly question, but I want to clear it up before purchasing the Pro 7 upgrade. Couldnt find anything in the FAQ section.

I have been using Acid Pro 6 on my old machine, which met an untimely end due to a power surge. I now have a new computer running Vista 64. Upon attempting to install Pro 6, I realized that it will not run on a 64 bit machine. So I'm ready to upgrade to Acid Pro 7 immediately.

BUT - will the Pro 7 upgrade load into my new machine if there is no Acid Pro 6 installed on the hard disk? In other words, is the Pro 7 upgrade a complete program that does not require a previously installed older version of Acid to " hook to" in order for it to install?

If so, its a catch-22 situation. How do I install the Pro 7 upgrade if I can't install Pro 6 because of the 64 bit issue?

Or am I concerned for no reason, and I should just order the upgrade and it will install without Pro 6 residing on my HD?

Cheers,
BT

I know when I did my upgrade (AP7 download) I did not have any other version of Acid on my computer. I would assume it would be the same for everyone. My understanding is as long as you are registered in the Sony database as an AP owner, the upgrade download is the complete version.

If you buy ACID Pro 7.0 from Sony it will be a full version even though you paid an upgrade price. There is no need to have a previous version of ACID on your PC.

Hey guys...
Thanks very much for confirming the situation for me. I realized after I posted that I could just call Sony Customer Service and they explained it. I do have a registered copy of Pro 6, so I'm good to go! Pro 7 on the way!
Cheers,
BT
