Subject:undo operation hangs SF 5.0 Posted by: snaimpally Date:4/1/2001 7:41:27 PM This is driving me crazy. Anytime I try to do an 'undo', SF 5.0 (build 117) hangs. It doesn't matter what the operation is. Fade, mute, normalize, directx plug-ins (eg. Waves) all do this. I hit undo, and at the bottom it shows the progress and when it gets to around 94% or 96% it hangs. shows sound forge as 'not responding'. I am running Win 98 SE on 400Mhz Celeron. Anyone know why this happens? And what I can do to stop it???

I sometimes go back to SF4 just to be able to work problems, really annoying as I'd very much like to start mastering my tracks in 24-bit ... Undo also hangs my machine, and when it doesn't, it just takes forever to complete - even small undo operations take 10-20 seconds on my P2-450 (WinME/128 megs, fast harddrive) and the progress gauge runs up to 100%, then crunches around on the harddrive for several seconds, and then starts at 0% and runs up to 100% again, then crunches around on the harddrive again, and finally the undo is complete ... hopeless! I can't work like this! :( ... also, I installed a DX plugin the other day, and when I started SF5 it started to re-scan the entire system for plugins - why? SF4 never did that ... it never had to scan for plug-ins in the first place. This operation also blue-screen'ed my windows and it took 4-5 reboots just to get SF5 started again - I finally tried launching the free Vegas 2LE instead, and it scanned the system too, but without crashing, fortunately, after which I was able to run SF5 again, but jeez, what a hassle ... ... I sure as h*ll hope there's an update coming VERY soon, because I NEED my SoundForge! :/

Having paid good money for SF5, I think we're entitled to a
