Subject:Preview only thru system sound?

In Sound Forge 10 when i load a cd into the computer and then click "extract audio from cd" the preview window that appears only plays the tracks thru the system sound,even though i have my external audio interface selected under the preferences in Sound Forge 10.
So, i wind up having to unplug my headphones from my external audio interface and walk over and plug them in to the output on the computers on-board sound in order to hear the tracks.

Am i missing something?

service pack 2, intel 2.8 dual core
2gb ram

In Windows direct all sound to play through your outboard audio interface. You'll also want to turn off all systems sounds - you know those sounds that can happen when you do various tasks in Windows - so they don't interrupt what you're doing when you work with audio.
Then in Device Manager in Windows disable your onboard sound chip (probably a Soundblaster type chip).
