Subject:Upgrading v9 to v10 questions

The installer wants to make a new directory for SF10, so I cancelled the installer. I don't think I want both versions on my PC.

Q1. Does the installer eventually delete the previous version?

Q2. If the installer does not delete v9, should I uninstall v9 BEFORE installing v10?

Q3. If the installer does not delete v9, uninstall v9 After installing v10?

Q4. If I uninstall v9 after I install v10 will it cause any issues with missing components or features?

I don't want to upgrade and end up with a mess.

Thanks,

It's all there in the release info.

There is NO NEED to uninstall SF9. They are completely independant and coexist quite happily.

Leave 9 on if you wish, and uninstall later. Nothing will be lost or messed up.

A1: No.

A2: No, unless you want to. However, if you leave it installed then Version 10 will pickup any presets you've created in Version 9.

A3: Only if you want to.

A4: Usually not.

Most folks usually leave the previous version in place. *shrug* Personal preference rules the day.

With previous updates, i have normally let the installer create new folders, and kept the old installation "just in case". Every now and then, I go back and uninstall the old ones once I am happy with the upgrade.

Thanks.

And thanks all.

I read the docs that came with the downloadable upgrade. Didn't find release notes - maybe they're in the help files which I haven't installed yet.

6 months ago, multiple versions installed wouldn't have been an issue. My new system has a fast SSD with less storage than my old DAW, but amazing performance.

Once again - I appreciate the help from all.

"Didn't find release notes - maybe they're in the help files which I haven't installed yet. "

Release Notes are at the download location for the software.
