SF say that all of the items are covered in the terms and conditions but what choice do we have. We want and need the software so we have to agree or we can't load the software. We should be free to install on any machine that we own. We have purchased the software and the licence to USE, your method of registration restricts our rights to USE. SF should reduce the price of the software to cover the cost of having to re-register every time we reload (UK). I reload my system regularly in order to keep my system smooth running and crap free. Many software companies issue reg codes, these are then logged against the personal details of the buyer. If the company then see's this reg code appearing all over the net, then they can prosecute the right person. |

*sigh*. I just converted my Win2K drive to NTFS and SF wouldn't run... 'this program is not installed properly' - tried reinstalling.... no go. Had to fully uninstall SF 5, then reinstall it, and then reregister it. What a pain. I remember older versions of SF had this problem with certain disk defraggers that move stuff around on the disk too. I guess that problem has never gone away. |

Aps, The reason your getting the message "SoundForge is not installed properly" is because it's true. The same thing will happen with just about any other program that ties close to the Windows interface. You can't simply swap the directory from drive to drive, or OS to OS. When you install the program, it also makes registry entries and places important files in the system directory, both of which can be accidentally changed during an upgrade. So this is not SF's fault. Any time you reformat or upgrade, you should fully reinstall a program to avoid this problem. Nick LaMartina |

I did not reformat, and I did not upgrade. The only thing that changed was the organization of my disk. SF was the only thing that needed reinstalled. Everything else that I use is perfect. This has also happened to me in the past, and used to be a big complaint among SF users, when doing something as simple as defragging the drive. It has nothing to do with the registry. Try installing SF on a Win98 machine and then defragging with DiskKeeper or Perfect Disk, and you will see what I am talking about. |
