Subject:SF10 event editor vs. CDA

So far, it looks like Sound Forge 10 has incorporated most of the aspects of CDA into their event editor tool, hence not having CDA bundled with the software anymore (?). For the most part, most of the CDA capabilities seem to be there. However, two options that I use quite regularly in live album production (especially when it is comprised of parts from several different concerts) are the ability to split (or just drop seperate events) and have a plug-in chain option for each event along the same time line (setting up for disc-at-once) and having a null-fade (no fade at all) for crossmixing events as you grab and slide them about. I have not found either of these as of yet in the event tool in SF v10. Perhaps I am missing them. There are work arounds, but they require much more time, etc.

That said, does anyone else have any opinions on CDA vs. the SF10 event editor?

You can disable automatic crossfades in the Options->Event menu.

As for Event FX, yes, that is something that remains unique to CD Architect. The Sound Forge 10.0 workflow is a bit more linear. You can certainly apply effects to individual or multiple events, just as you can to a time selection in regular edit mode. But it is obviously a different type of workflow. The benefits of adding a feature like Event FX is not lost on us and we will be considering how to best integrate that functionality in future versions.

By the way, a CD Architect 5.2 license is included with the Sound Forge 10.0 license. For those who don't already have it, the installer is included on the Sound Forge 10.0 disc and still available for download.

Ah. Interesting regarding the CDA license. Good to know for those who are not allready running it :)

Thanks for the tip on the crossfades. I've been poking around a lot on test files, but had not found that yet. Just a not that I had not found anything in the help files either, although I wasn't quite sure how to ask what I was looking for. Thanks.
