Subject:Minor MP3 "Save As" bug

Not sure if this manifests itself anywhere else in SF5, but here's what happens to me: Saving ripped .wav files as MP3, and every time I 'Save As', I have to reselect 128Kbps, as it defaults to 64Kbps. Is there a default setting somewhere that I'm missing? Cheers, Dave p.s. can't wait for the batch converter |

yes, that's the way it goes. you have to reselect it every time or you end up with a 64kb mp3-file |

You're saying this is by design? Rather silly if it is. When saving multiple .wav files one at a time (won't be doing much of this, I can tell you - come on Batch Converter!), it automatically comes up with the .mp3 format each time you select 'Save As' with the next .wav file, yet it changes the format to 64 Kpbs. At least it changes it in the drop down box. . .if you click the 'Custom' button, the custom settings come up for 128Kpbs, and clicking changes the template setting in the Save As dialog to 128Kpbs. Definitely a bug - a minor one, but still a bug. |

Don't get me wrong. I'm disappointed with this behaviour as much as you are. BTW I'm not a Sonic Foundry Employee. |

I presume you're using 4.5. Have you tried saving as an mp3 in 5? I haven't found an option to save at a higher quality than 56k. I also don't see a custom field in "save as". Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, rn |

Every single day since i downloaded SF5. It's Version 5.0 (Build117) The 'Save as' Dialogue contains the following buttons: (top to bottom) Save, Abort, Help, Custom, About and Summary. There is no 56k Template, it starts with 64Kbps FM Radio Quality Audio, up to 320 Kbps and ends with (Untitled). Are you using any kind of beta Version? |

You will only see the custom selection if you select WMA7 file type then you can save and adjust as MP3 as a WMA file it does'nt give you that option when saving as a wave file type |

Simply wrong,it got nothing to do with WMA-Filetype. In the filetype dropdown box there's an entry MP3 Audio (.mp3) after Macintosh AIFF and before NeXT/Sun(Java) File. If you use Microsoft Wave (.wav) and Format MPEG Layer 3 you are limited to 56k. If you're talking about SF4.5 the entry MP3 Audio may not be there cause the mp3 plug-in was an option you had to pay for. |
