Subject:SF 9 and Win 7 problem

Whenever I try to save a change to an existing file in SF 9 I get a save error. And if I try to delete a file from the SF explorer window it tells me I do not have access. I'm using Windows 7. I do not have this problem in any other Sony or windows programs. If I copy and paste the audio content to a new file I can then save the file. Any ideas? Thanks, Marc |

Any chance those files are set to read-only permission? |

No I checked them. Really weird. Only happens since moving to Win 7. |

Are you logged on as an Administrator? Like Vista, guests are not permitted to delete files. MS's UAC annoyance fix; they no longer show the UAC window, even when it's on, at least on my OS-7 beta. |

Yeah, it sounds like a UAC problem to me as well. Check your user account rights in the Control Panel, then right-click the shortcut for Sound Forge and choose Run this program as an Administrator from the Compatibility tab. Also, be sure you have full access privileges to all of the local temp folders under your user profile ( \Users\NameOfUser\AppData\Temp ). On a side note, I am running Win 7 Ultimate RTM 64-bit as well, and I have zero issues with any software... but only after clean installing. Prior to this, when I had upgraded from beta (essentially the same as an upgrade from Vista), I had been experiencing odd, sporadic issues with Sony software specifically. This is truly the best MS OS yet however... especially if you start with a clean slate. :) Steve Message last edited on9/3/2009 7:17:18 PM byothersteve. |

I'm having UAC issues as well, i.e. can't run Sound Forge 10 In Vista unless I 'run as administrator'. Vegas Pro and DVDA run fine without administrator privileges. I don't believe this is an OS issue, rather a Sound Forge issue. However, I still haven't figured out how to resolve. Good luck! Mark Message last edited on11/8/2009 8:51:58 AM by1marcus4. |

>"...can't run Sound Forge 10 In Vista unless I 'run as administrator'. >"...I still haven't figured out how to resolve." Right click the .exe file for Sound Forge, or right click the shortcut you use, then check the box to run as administrator. [I *think* Vista has the shortcut option -- been in 7 too long to remember 100%]. Doesn't actually fix anything, but then it's really not an issue any longer either. |
