Is it $149 to upgrade from prior SF versions...or is there a better deal coming?

Superb deal then for US since over here in Europe it says 181,95 euro´s or 246 US $ . ( SF pro 9 to SF pro 10 )
Our European sound very seriously discriminated by Sony , I would conclude.

All my SF upgrades have cost U$99.95. Does anyone know what is so special about this one? Is there a comparison table between 9 and 10?
Thanks,
Serge

woelf, that is not just for software. generally the media industry seem to thing it's ok to say $1 = €1, take the PS3 for instance. I think it's $199 in the US, €199 here in the EU.
iTunes? $0.99 per track in the US, €0.99 here in the EU.
To make matters even worse, for Denmark they tend to exchange € to DKK at 8DKK for 1€, where as the real exchange rate is 7.45.

There's not much in the new version to tempt me. I'd like to see them improve on their audio restoration and mastering tools. Adobe has been doing some really cool things with Soundbooth.

$249 for the upgrade? They gotta come up with a better deal than that. I think that's what I pad for the Vegas update.

$149 seems more realistic (maybe less) for an audio editor upgrade.

I can't even find the $149 deal... was there an email sent out? I'm supposed to be on the list... heh.

This is copied from the official announcement:

"SCS Email subscribers should watch their inbox for special offers over the next few days. If you're not currently subscribed, sign up in the footer on any page of our site. Enjoy!"

So I suppose we all need to chill for a few days until the special offers are sent out.

Oh. I was just going by what everyone in the rest of this topic had been saying. The issue was being discussed as though pricing had already been sent out.

I received the email sharing the $149.00 offer and this is tempting. I am currently using version 7. Cany anybody add their two cents as if a 7 to 10 would introduce enough changes.

I know it was mentioned that 9 to 10 did provide much.

Thanks,

Chad

Chad does version 7 have the noise reduction? If not that would make it worth it to me. Even though they have not updated the plugin for years it's pretty decent.

No one can gauge your needs except you... but 3 things sold me:

1. The inclusion of iZotope SRC and MBIT+ is a big deal. If it is an implementation of their higher order processing, then we're talking conversion at the Weiss level of quality. SRC comparisons are available here: http://src.infinitewave.ca/

2. They finally introduced a better pitch shifting algorithm; their old one has been lagging the state of the art by miles. I'm hoping they've implemented it in the pitch envelope process and not just as a static shifter...

3. I actually was looking for a DLS editing tool. Tadaa.

I usually I wait at least one revision before installing something new from Sony. But I'm feeling both curious and adventurous. Hope I won't be disappointed...

Instrument editing is limited to applying effects to the samples themselves. We intend to allow basic clipboard operations (for extracting and replacing entire samples) in future updates to 10.0.

But I feel I must make it clear that we have not exposed any articulation data in this version, so you'd still have to used a dedicated DLS/GIG editor to make those types of changes.

Perhaps the messages are still being sent.

If you're talking about the $150 upgrade, you don't need an email to get it. It's on the web site for all to see.
Actually, if you don't want the backup disc, it's $139.95.

Hey Tididit,

Actually, from what I have been reading, it only appears for certain user accounts. It's definitely a weird situation for sure... especially because I own a license to Sound Forge 9 and I am seeing an upgrade price of $250/$240. Others on other message boards report the same phenomenon.

It sucks even more because my 20% off code I received from Tech Support apparently even expired yesterday... :(

The offer is until end of October. So no desperate urgency is required

Perhaps it will pop up for those of us who cannot currently see it in due time then. I've tried two machines and three different browsers, disabled AdBlock, and cleared my cookies, and have yet to have any luck.

Upon clicking that link, here is what I see:

I'm not the first to report this, either, so yeah, it's pretty weird stuff.

The link takes me to the regular upgrade page - not a limited time special. I too have not received an email notification and I have been on their list for many years. I'm really not concerned though - there's plenty of time and I never download any Sony app until at least the 2nd or 3rd update even if I've already purchased it. I just don't enjoy beta-testing.

Uh, how are people getting an upgrade price of $150?

They want and expect me to pay $239.95 to upgrade from SF 9.0, which is absurd.

I sure hope the messages with the upgrade special are still to come. otherwise I see no incentive to upgrade.

The only advantage I've seen so far is when the application hangs and loses your changes during a save you have the opportunity to tell Sony about it. I would wait for the first maintenance release. I've had nothing but problems since I upgraded a few days ago.

Othersteve, I fall into it both feet first. Inspecting my order receipt I can now see I paid full price for the upgrade for some reason, so do be careful, and double check the price.

Just checked the UK upgrade price and it's £193.14 that's almost twice as much as the last one which I think was £99 and not a good exchange rate with the $ either!
That's in my account details but just followed the links and it's £104.95 +VAT on the 'special offer'..

No email yet but I don't think I need the new stuff anyway.

Thanks, it IS appreciated. Even if the link comes about 36 hours too late for me :(
I have contacted support, but that was only an hour ago, and don't expect an answer THAT fast :)

Does anyone know if I order the $150 upgrade from SF 9 in a box (not download), is everything included on the CD(s)? Is there a printed manual included?

For several years Sony has only provided a quick start manual with the boxed packages. A PDF of the full manual is typically included on the disc and also available for download.
