Subject:Need help processing noisy analog recording

I'd appreciate any advice I could get as a newbie facing a
very noisy old cassette recording of a live performance.

Can anyone suggest most effective processing steps for
cleaning up a file of this type? What I most need is
advice for removing or diminishing the background hum of
the recorder itself (the desired audio is unfortunately low
volume). TIA.

The best thing to do would be to use our Noise Reduction
software to remove the background noise. If this is not an
option, you might be able to get satisfactory results with
a combination of an EQ and dynamics processing.
