Subject:Error 1904 while installing SF 5.0

Hi,

I just bought SF5 this morning, downloaded all the files,
and tried to
install it on my audio system.
Here's the error I get:

Error 1904:
Module C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\Shared
Plugins\SfUtilities\SfConfigmgr.dll failed to register
Hresult -2147023739

The strange thing is that I can install it on the second
win98 (on the same
pc of course, I've got a dualboot).
So I did a fresh install of the first one but I always get
the same error.

I somebody got the same error and found a solution, please
tell me.

Hi,

I got the same error message installing my 5.0 yesterday.
I don't know what this "sfconfigmgr.dll" is about....
It's in a folder where there is just another file which is
"sfmarket2.dll".
After installing, i tried to manually registered this
"sfconfigmgr.dll" by dragging it in the opened SF, but got
the same error message.

I'd really like to know what's this dll...!
Are we missing something with it not registered ?

hey, I think that you and me made a too light install of
win98.
I retried installing win98 with the internet components
(typical install in fact) and it's fine now.
Hope this helps for you. (let me know if it's the case or
not)

I've got exactly this problem on my editing machine (no
modem), but not on my office machine (modem, full internet
access etc.)
I've e-mailed techsupport today about this. I don't want to
do a full 98se install on my editing machine, so hopefully
someone at SF will come up with either a fix or an
explanation!
