If I record some audio tacks the graphic inteface is very, very slow. I don´t think is a problem of performance since my computer is quiet potent:
DellStudio XPS 435 MT
Vista Home Premium 64 bits
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 920, 2.67 GHz
Ram: 6 GB
Graphic card: ATI Radeon HD 3650

Have any of you a solution?

I could be wrong, but I would imagine that it is because acid is a 32bit application and you are running it in a 64bit operating system. I read a similar thread on www.dogsonacid.com about ableton behaving in a similar way, and it was deduced that this was the cause. Have you recently moved to vista 64?

Incidently, does anyone know when acid will be moving to 64bit?

Thank you. You could be right. I had to change my computer at the beginnig of the year and I thought 64 bits was the future and the right move. And it is "really" the future but not the present. Sonar and Cubase have moved to 64 bits and I think Acid should do the same as soon as posible. Pro Tools has announced it for October with the release of Windows 7. For the time being few plug-ins are designed for 64 bits. In general 32 bits programs run o.k. in Vista 64.

Have you tried the various compatibilty options for running 32 under 64 ?

We have not seen the type of performance problem when running ACID under Vista64. (I have used it under Win7 64 and see no significant performance problems.)

If you could, download the demo of Vegas Pro 9 64 bit and see if you have the same performance problems.

no problem in Vegas Pro 64 with audio. I have put eleven audio tracks and all is O.K. But all is O.K in Acid if I put the same 11 audio tracks. The problem is with the Acid Project. Is the same song: if I take only the audio, no problem. If I take the project all is very slow and if I move back and forth ( right and left) I have to wait for the tracks to arrive to the cursor.
This acid project is a blues. The drums and the bass are loops and ther rest is audio recorded by me. In the project I have sections and I have markers wit pitch changes ( the typical 12 bar of a blues with I, IV and V chords). Perhaps is not the same for Acid moving only audio tracks or moving entire sections...?

Where you have the markers at these 'pitch changes' (do you mean key signature changes)??
If so, then edit the marker and add a tempo, it can be just the project tempo. This is a bug that was discovered not long back when I had the same problems (plus lots of crashes) when I had multiple time signatures. Try adding a tempo on the same marker and hopefully this solves you problem.

If this is the case the ACID team know about this bug.

Yes, with pitch changes I meant key signature changes. But I don´t understand your indication, Adji. I have edited the key siganture changes and the tempo was marked by defect with the tempo project ( 120) I have unmarked the tempo ( this little square I don´t know it´s name in english) of all of my key signature changes and I have not observed any improvement in the performance

Adji, you are absolutelly right. I have started a new project with lots of audio tracks and all is O.K. until the moment I put the key signature changes. The interesting thing is that I have put key changes only in half of the project and the other half is free of changes...well...I can move flawless in the part without key changes and the project is very slow if I go back and forth in the part with the key changes. What I don´t understand is the solution you gave me.

I've been having the same problem with certain project files. Depending on the file, ACID gets noticeably (and unbearably) slow. I have a powerful and well-cared for system, and because of that, I'm hardly using any system resources, etc. But even with that, the ACID GUI slows to a crawl. BTW, all of my other Sony apps (and apps from others) work fine.

I've tried freezing MIDI tracks, lowering sample rates, and so on, but to no avail.
For right now, I've resorted to a lot of extra downmixing just to keep files small, so that I can at least work with them without the GUI hesitation and slowness.

Furthermore, I've done lots of similar projects in previous versions, and never had these problems. Yet when I try to work with projects in version 7, the GUI slows to a crawl. It usually starts happening if I have more than 8 tracks and/or have more than two beatmapped tracks.

I hope Sony has a solution, because other than this GUI problem, the new version is awesome.

In my case, and the case of a few others, the solution is simple.

There is a bug in Sony which causes time-signatures changes to cause a lot of freezing, making ACID almost unworkable.

What I do when I want to insert a time signature.

Click Shift + T to bring up the time sig editor.
Untick the box that says Key Change
Leave the box that says tempo change clicked
Tick the box next to time signature change and select your time sig.

Click okay.

A red flag should come up and in my case it reads 106, 13/8. Which means the tempo is 106bpm and the time-signature has changed to 13/8.

You must follow this method for EVERY signature change you add.

This is a simple fix for me, sorry if it does not seem to work on your machine.

Unfortunately, my problem has nothing to do with time signature or tempo changes, although I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind when the time comes.

I have a few theories as to what might be causing my problems, but figured I'd throw it out in here first to see what feedback I might get.

and my problem is that I need to do key changes, not time changes

Strange the key changes don't cause a problem on my machine, are you running the latest version? Its 7.0c

Why do you need to put in the key changes, just as a reminder or something else? If its just as a reminder you could try highlighting the part where the key change is and press Shift + S to add a'section.' You could simply title these sections as C#, next section, F# or whatever. I use these sections to de-note where my verses, choruses are etc..

My version is the last ( 7.0c) and the key changes are not reminders. The bass in this particular song is a loop. And I need the bass to follow the key changes in the song ( a blues) When I have the 12 bar progression I do a section and repeat it as needed. Then I play guitar on top and sing. Acid is great to help you doing a song very easy. As I was a bit disapointed with Acid ( other problem I have is that when i insert T-racks 3 in my project Acid crashes) I have been investigating Sonar and Cubase again but they are toooooo! complicated. Acid is so simple and effective! Acid is all that I need but it doesn´t work as it should.

What are your computer specs?
I have used T-Racks in the past without much problems, its a very CPU intensive program so is best left to the mastering stage.

my specs are in the first post. My audio card is M-Audio Firewire Audiophile.
In T-Racks 3 in addition to the mastering tool you have now the opportunity to use every single compressor or equalizer independently in your project. I use mainly a bit of compression in the voice and in the bass and guitars. If I put a compressor like the simulation of the Faircchild 670 then the project crashes. If I put the effect in a bus it crashes. I am investigating if it crashes if I put the effect in an audio track. And I am investigating if other compressors or equalizers crash in the same way. T racks 3 has 12 different effects for you to use

Oh right sorry I missed that. Well I'm afraid I'm out of solutions for you haha, I would recommend contacting support directly.

In Sony they would say that I have to speak with IK Muktimedia and in IK Multimedia that I have to speak with Sony. Sometimes is frustrating, boring and tiring to be a client of audio software...( and computers in general but I love them) Anyway I should speak with the thecnical support.
Thank you Adjin

I have the same problem. Acid gets slow and heavy (although never crashes or anything) when I have a lot of tracks which is weird cause when I look at my memory and cpu peformance it's really not being strained very much and I have a pretty decent graphics card with a quad core and 6gb ram so there shouldn't be any problems. But I"m using vista 64 too, maybe that's the problem.
