hey everyone,
this might be an old issue...
i currently use acid 7/gigastudio 3 rewired and have been experimenting with track freezing. and i noticed that track freezing is not an option in this config. i can track freeze with kontakt (thanks very much for the heads ups a few post ago about the kompakt update to kontakt!! i have been jazzed about the new sound downloads from NI) so if a "render" includes all softsynths (giga included) why can't it also track freeze?
thoughts anyone?

one more comment - i think the capabilities of acid7 + plugins rock!!! even with buggy issues people have from time to time, who can't make awesome frikkin music with these tools?!!!

This is caused by how ReWire works. We cannot tell it to mute channels or the ReWire devices internal 'tracks' so we can render.

When ACID renders it starts playback internally. This means that ACID tells the ReWire devices connected to also playback. If you are using ReWire with a client that has its own projects, you would get more than just the MIDI on the track routed to ReWire.

For ACID to freeze ReWire device routed MIDI tracks would require a different approach.

There are a number of more subtle issues as well. We are looking at a reasonable solution for the future.

thanks for the reply Peter...
so are you saying that if the rewired program (i.e. giga) has multiple instruments loaded on tracks in giga that all the tracks would be rendered if acid had a freeze function for rewired softsynths? if so i think i could work around that by creating a special scenario in giga to render individual tracks for acid at a time (e.g. just bass instead of bass, keys, horns, whathaveu...)

With giga this would most likely not be a problem, but for Reason type apps that produce audio with out content (MIDI) in ACID it would be.
