Subject:Can't render flac or mp3 with Garritan Steinway

Hi,

I wonder if this is a known issue: I use ACID Pro 7 with Garritan Steinway as a soft synth a lot. Usually I have just one MIDI file in my project (the piano part) and when I try to render to flac or mp3, I get a very small file that won't play.

I can render to wav, though, but then I need to use another application to convert to mp3 or flac, and then I must add the tags myself, which is quite annoying...

Is there a known compatibility issue between ACID and the Garritan Steinway?

Not really an answer to the problem, but why aren't you using ACID to convert the .wav to .mp3? Would that help you with the tag issue?

Not a bad idea, I'll try that, thanks. Still it's strange I can't render directly to mp3.

I have not been able to reproduce this.

I do not have the Garrintan Steinway.

Does this happen for you with other softsynths?

Well, it looks like I might be the only person on earth using the Garritan Steinway with ACID :-( I guess I'll just resolve to insert the rendered wav file in a new track under the MIDI file, then render it as flac or mp3...

I switched my ACID project from 96KHz to 44.1 and now the problem is gone, I can render the MIDI track to any file type I want...

This is an example of the information being in the details that were omitted.

We will look at this specific case.

I just did some tests. I have no problem rendering when the project is 96 kHz.

Rendering is actually independent of the project sample rate. You choose the rendering template for what you want to produce. ACID picks a default, but you can change depending on what your needs are.

What templates are you using?

I use "256 kbps, CD transparent audio, unicode", if that's what you mean by "template".

In the meantime, I've contacted people at Garritan, and they told me the Steinway was sampled at 96KHz, but then resampled at 44.1 before they put it on the marked, because the disk space needed for the samples was really huge. So it was rather pointless to have a project set at 96, with a soft synth at 44.1.
