I have a microphone connected to the sound card. When I record a sound, it records alright. However, when I pay it back there is a hissing noice during the text phase. when no word are spoken or when there is no voice, the hissing noice is not there. I have tried several things such as noice reduction, DC control chages etc. I'm not sure why I get this hissing noice only when I am speaking into the microphone. I have tried speaking away from the microphone and it dosen't make any diffference. Pleae advise. thanks nik |

Most likely, you are just using a lousy microphone. Mics that are included with computers are typically not known for their sound quality. You might look into investing $50 to $100 for a decent microphone. If you are already using a pretty good mic, a sound card driver update will probably fix the problem. Ted |

Ted: Thanks for the reply. I have a nice sony dynamic microphone, which does a very good job when I record using MS encoder. I have a brand new pentium III with a SoundMAX digital sound card. Any other suggestions will be appreciated. |

are you sure you're recording at 16bit? It sounds like 8 bit to me... |
