Subject:ACID PRO 2.0d and Athlon problem?

Anyone having PC system lock ups using the above?

I'm running ACID Pro 2.0 with any of the 20 or so Loop +
collections and my PC seems to freeze after several minutes
of use. I need to actually physically reboot the machine,
run ScanDisk and restart Windows 98SE after each lock-up.
(CTRL-ALT-DEL won't restart in this situation).
-------
I'm running a PC with an ASUS A7V Socket A VIA
APOLLO KT133 Mobo, an Athlon PIII Socket A 1GHz
CPU, and 256MB of Corsair Value Select SDRAM.
I have 4 Hard Drives including a Maxtor, IBM
Deskstar and Quantum (IDEs & UDMAs).
-------
Typically, I may be running SYSTRAY, EXPLORER,
NORTON SYSTEMWORKS and INTERNET SECURITY and
ANTIVIRUS, Verizon DSL and IE 5.5, but even if I
shut down the Internet connection, security and
antivirus progs, the freeze still occurs.

Other system information:
TNT2 ULTRA video card with 32MB RAM
WESTEL DSL Modem.
NETWORK:Belkin's USB Direct Connect
CD-ROM: Creative Labs 32X
CD-RW: Plextor ATAPI 12x10x32 Soundblaster Live!
MEMORY: 256MB Corsair Value Select

Any experiences you'd like to relate would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Tom

Tom,
I would highly suggest you disable any
Norton utilities, Antivirus programs when using
digital audio programs. Based on my experience,
and those of others on these forums, these type
of programs tend to be incompatible with digital
audio apps. That goes for digital video editing also.
This is also the recommendation of Sonic Foundry as well.
Ideally, your DAW should be as streamlined as possible.

Hope this helps,

Bill
