Subject:Rendering Each Track WITHOUT track number

Hey peeps. I've looked a few places and cant find how to render each track as seperate without the automatic "Track 1 (etc) "File Name". I am working with a studio across town that is importing into ProTools and the "track numbers" on all my files are just confusing them and unneccesary. I am currently editing each filename after render. But this can be time consuming with major songs. Is there a button I can click to stop this from happening?

Thanks in advance.

I understand that a logical and simple track numbering system may be confusing to PT users .....

Instead of Tools | Render To New Track, choose File | Render As, and choose your own output filename, type, and location. You do of course have to do this for each track, soloed.

In Vegas with scripting, this is achieved more easily. There is even a freebie script from VAAST called "Trackaliser". Can you somehow transfert the project ?

thanks Geoff.

That does seem to be another way to do it. still not as quick and painless as i had hoped. LOL

Do you mean transfer to Vegas, that I may use the script? or Transfer to ProTools, which could save me hours of converting files? Is that possible?

Unfortunatelt not, but perhaps you can make a suggestion so that it can turned off when you dont need it.

I often duplicate the directory and then I edit the file names with logical names so that they make sense.

The script in Vegas renders a project full of (audio) files that are all the same length so automatically line up in whatever other system.

You problem is that for soft-synth tracks, or tracks made up of separate events, you'll need to render them anyway. And takes get a bit messy Sorry .

Wouldn't it be great if there was a conveneient way to directly transfer projects between A and V , like directly loading the project files (necessarily dropping the unsupported features, ok course). Or AAF or BWF, etc.... Or scripting in Acid.

I think scripting in acid sounds like the best bet
