Hello everyone!

I have Acid 7.0 and every time I try to record through a direct input or through a microphone it records everything okay as long as I do it extremely quiet but once I play at normal or louder noises/accents then it starts to make a static sounding digital noise.

I've tried turnig down the master volume but to no success. I don't know how to mess with the peak levels and I've tried turning down the volume on my input volume control and no success as well.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like you are overloading the input to your soundcard. Make sure you haven't got a line level going into a mic level input.

Also, your soundcard 'driver applet' (icon on sys tray) may have a an 'advanced' setting for input level modification (something like ' -20dB pad') tickbox available.

Thanks Geoff, that seemed to be the problem indeed. I don't know what the line level going to a mic level input thing meant, but I had indeed checked a +20 decibel volume boost to the microphone and when I tried the new settings without it, the sound quality improved although it still needed some volume adjustment in the other areas.

Thank you again for the help.
