At first i want to introduce myself as beginner. My question is how to setup external control of ACID using master keyboard Edirol PCR-300. There is description in the help, but I can't start because there are strange names as Mackie or Tranzport and I don't know how them use. Please, be so kind and recommend something to me. Kind regards |

I would also like to know this, for the M-Audio Axiom controllers. |

I am thinking of getting the PCR-300 but the silence in here is ominous. Are they bad, hard to hook up, unreliable, etc.? I am not a musician but hope to use my newly upgraded Acid Pro 7 to annoy young people within earshot ... Seriously, is this $260 well spent or should I look at other gear? |

You can use the Generic Surface Control driver with these types of devices to control basic functionality of ACID including transport and fader trim/automation. The Mackie and Tranzport drivers are developed specifically to work with the Mackie Control and Frontier Design Tranzport (Google them and you will get a lot of information on what they are.) Peter |

Going deeper into what Peter said: - Go to Options > Preferences > External Control & Automation. Under "Available Devices, choose, "Generic Control." Click the "Add" button. - Double-click the added generic control in the "active control devices" list. You'll have a boatload of functions you can assign here. For example, under the "view function group" dropdown, you can choose "Transport," and have the array of commands associated with playback of a project available for you to have your MIDI keyboard/controller "learn" the associated commands. For example, to quickly assign a button on your MIDI keyboard/controller to playback and stop a project: - Click "Transport.Play" under the list of host commands. Check the "Learn" checkbox and simply press the button you want to use to start playback on your keyboard or controller. - Do the same thing for "Transport.Stop" under the list of host commands (but, of course, make sure it's a different button on your controller). Click OK. - Click Options > External Control. You'll see a horizontal line under the "Master" channel in the Mixer to indicate external control is active. Focus on the track view. Press the button you wanted for playback on your controller. Your project should playback. Press the button you wanted to stop playback with on your controller. Your project should stop playing back. Notes: - Make sure you choose your controller's MIDI input under Options > Preferences > MIDI. - Some vendors like M-Audio have posted user maps for various controllers to use with DAWs, including ACID. You'll have to join (for free) to get them but note that, in ACID's case, these are simply user maps that you can make yourself. However, if you want a good idea on what you can do with your controller you can check them out. HTH, Iacobus |

Are there going to be drivers soon for the Axiom pro? There is no need for a driver for the Axiom with ACID to use it for external control. You can use the Generic Control surface driver to map the Axiom for use with ACID. The only driver needed is the MAudio supplied MIDI driver so that ACID can see the Axiom's MIDI input. Peter |

what we are looking for can be found here: http://forums.m-audio.com/showthread.php?t=2557&highlight=axiom+acid if you would like to take a use of those files, you would need to have an account at m-audio forums. |
