Hey I just got a Sony laptop (PCG-F650K, 12G HD 128 RAM) that was loaded with SF XP 4.5. I'm looking to record a band live with ambient mikes or direct from a Mackey 1604 mixer and then burn a CD-R. I don't need to add any thing after the intial recording so this software looks good. I think the sound card is a Yamaha. It has a single 1/8" miniplug. Can I assume this is stereo. I've have bunch of Shure 58's or is a condenser mike better for this application. I've seen a sony stereo mike with a AA battery, is this a possibilty?? Can I adjust the input gain thru SF, do I need to. What format should I save to burn a CD. My CD-R says 650MB/74 min. Will 74 min of recording on the computer result in a 650 MB file or does some compression happen before you burn to CD? Enough for now thanks I'm sure I will have some more questions |
