Hello all, New to ACID, but having a blast! Right now, just doing basic recording plugging in the mic input on my HP laptop (with Vista). Two questions: 1. Can I adjust the mic input level in ACID? It's always hot, as I am plugging in though my guitar & bass amps. I searched the Knowlege Base and tried to change the Sound settings in my Control Panel. Is that the only place to adjust the input? 2. After a few days with no problem, all of a sudden I can no longer hear the ARM track when recording. My headphones are fine as I can hear the other tracks on the playback. In other words, I cannot monitor myself when recording. Any ideas? Thanks, Geoff |

No , the mic level needs adjustment at source (extenal mixer/preamp, soundcard mixer applet, or USB mic mixer applet. If you cannot hear the track you are recording, then you have turned Input Monitoring off for the track - right-click track 'module' to set up (check Help on how to turn back on - haven't got ACid in font of me to double-check. geoff Message last edited on8/11/2009 9:37:25 PM byGeoff_Wood. |

Please fill out your system specs in your user profile. What audio hardware are you using? What Driver model are you using in ACID? You must use ASIO drivers to use software input monitoring in ACID. If you don't have ASIO drivers for your hardware, then you will have to use the tools supplied with the sound hardware to allow for monitoring input while playing back. Peter |

Thanks for your help guys. That's fine about the input level, I'll probally buy a preamp or mixer anyway. However, I still cannot hear the ARM'ed track when recording. I cannot find where to turn the input monitor on/off. As I mentioned, it worked a few days ago and now I can't hear. I don't recall changing any settings either. Here is what I'm working with: Vista 64 with IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. All seems to working properly. Any more suggestions? Thanks again!!! |

Sorry . . I'm not good at figuring out the hardware. Let me know if this helps, or how I can find the info you need: Audio device type: Microsoft Sound Mapper High Definition Audio Device Provider: Microsoft File version: 6.0.6001.18000 (longhorn_rtm.080118-1840) Thanks!!! |

Got it! I had just updated a bunch of stuff in Windows and the audio driver was updated. For some reason the update does not like Sony ACID, so I rolled back the driver and I'm back in business!!! Thanks for your help!!! Geoff |

MS Sound Mapper will not allow input monitoring as it is not an ASIO driver. Reinstall the updated driver set, and in Options|Preferences| Audio Device chose 'yoursoundcard ASIO' . If you had inpput monitoring before the update reverted the driver type, then the new one should have an (updated ?) ASIO driver too. Maybe you will want to check that before re-updating, else stick with what works.... geoff |
