Sony noise reduction <-> Vegas Pro 64 Bit issue

Thomas wrote on 6/6/2009, 11:33 AM
Anybody out there who is using sony noise reduction with vegas pro 9 64bit? The plugin is not visible in the Plug-In-Manager. I installed it in "Programme (x86)" while Vegas Pro 64bit resides in "Programme". Could this be the reason? In the 32bit version noise reduction is visible and applicable via Plug-In-Manager.

Thanks for any hints,
Thomas

Not sure about 9, but previous versions of Vegas look for their plugins in a folder named "Shared Plug-Ins"

Like this: C:\Program Files\Sony\Shared Plug-Ins\Audio

The 64-bit version of Vegas does not recognize 32-bit plugins. You will have to do your noise reduction in a 32-bit program like Vegas v9-32 or Sound Forge.

That's what I feared. I can use it in Vegas 9 32Bit, regardless of the path where it is installed (I forced the installer to place it in the 64Bit program folder). I have to raise a support request to scs.
Thanks for your help,
Thomas

#4399: Windows Vista 64-bit support in the scs knowledge base.... I hope the will work on NR for 64Bit soon.

Posted a product suggestion to make sure scs knows it is used ;-).

Any updates on this? I just upgraded from v7 to v9 (finally!) and installed on a 64bit pc. My noise reduction does not show up in the list, though.

I'm not inclined to install the 32bit Vegas version just to make that work, either.

Is there a way to get 64bit Vegas to see the 32bit Noise Reduction 2.0?

Or, are there plans for a 64bit version of NR?

Thanks!
Jeff

No, nothing has changed. You still can't use 32-bit plugins in a 64-bit program. I haven't heard anything about a 64-bit version of NR.

Why are you not inclined to install the 32-bit version of Vegas in addition to the 64-bit version? They will coexist quite peacefully.

Thanks John, I just figured that would cause mayhem. Good to know. So, I suppose as a last step after all editing, I'd export just the audio track, import into a 32bit instance, run NR, export back out, open the de-noised track back in the 64bit version. A bit of a pain to say the least.

Does anyone know of any other new noise reduction plugins (other brands) that work in 64bit Vegas?
