Vegas 9.0a troubles with .MOV files

Is anyone else experiencing issues with .MOV files using 9.0a?

I have Vista 64 bit installed and 9.0a keeps locking up on me when I try to enter the videos into the timeline.

It is hanging on building the audio peeks.

Quite a crash, brings my entire PC to it's knees (Quad core Phenom, 8GB RAM).

Thanks,

Steve

Unfortunately, you were not specific about the Quicktime files you are adding. Quicktime files, like .AVI files can have many different compression types.

I am going to take a guess and say that you might be trying to edit files from a consumer MPEG4 camcorder. It could be the Go-HD, or the Kodak Zi6 or any other number of the ones that use MPEG 4 AVC compression and AAC (LC) audio. They will crash Vegas every time.

Vegas does like MPEG 4 AVC compression and AAC (LR) audio. Converting the files using the instructions at

You are exatly right, the files are from a MPEG4 camcorder that my brother has. He wanted me to make some DVD's for him.

I'll convert the files and try again.

Thanks,
