Subject:SCMS problem when transferring to DAT

I'm having a problem with SoundForge and my Delta DIO 2496 card. I use the card to transfer concerts from DAT to the PC. Once I have the .wav file on my PC, I use Sound Forge and/or Cool Edit to modify the file (EQ, normalizing, etc). The problem I'm having is that once I make modifications to the file, I can't copy the modified file back to the DAT. I've double checked & triple checked my settings & everything appears to be fine. SCMS is set to 'ignore' on the Delta DIO 2496 and on the DAT, yet as soon as I hit record on the DAT (a Sony PCM-M1, which ignores SCMS), the display on the DAT flashed "Copy Prohibit" & I'm unable to record from the PC to the DAT. This only seems to occur on files that have been modified. If I use the PC for DAT cloning (without making any modifications to the .wav file), it works fine. Are there any settings in SoundForge that I could be missing that would cause this? Any suggestions? Thanks, Steve Marshall 314-951-5544 |

Forge does not control this in any way. It is a function of your sound card and the DAT recorder. Forge merely "plays" the audio to a specific port. There is no means for Forge to "control" or alter the SCMS bit in the S/PDIF data stream. Have you contacted MIDIMan? They are very helpful in this regard. Peter Haller Sonic Foundry, Inc. |
