Subject:Using ASIO4ALL w/ACID Music Studio

When I was using ACID Music XPress, I managed to get ASIO4ALL working with it and my external iMic USB audio device.

I've since purchased ACID Music Studio 7, but I cannot get any it it to properly utilize ASIO4ALL and/or the iMic.

Both of them are listed in the Audio Device pane of ACID's Options, but it appears that ACID is insisting on routing audio to the on-board RealTek interface.

Any ideas?

I'm going to say that ACID Music Studio definitely has a problem with ASIO4ALL. I've tried just about everything to rectify things. ACID XPress continues to work perfectly with ASIO4ALL, while ACID Music Studio is klugy at best. (Both the on-board audio and the iMic stay active in ASIO4ALL while Music Studio is running, which perhaps is the problem.)

Any official comment on this issue? To summarize, ASIO4ALL apparently works with ACID Pro and I know it works with ACID XPress, but no joy with ACID Music Studio 7.

Any plans for a fix as Music Studio is still stuck at 7a?

Official comment:

ASIO4All works fine with AMS 7. I have tested against a number of different audio device and there are no problems. I have specificaly tested with two machines that have Realtek onboard chip sets.

ASIO4 does not show up as an option for AMS 7 in the Preference - Audio Device page?

You can try reseting your prefs in AMS. Hold down the Shift and Control keys when you start AMS. This will reset all of your prefs.

Worst case to try is to uninstall and reinstall AMS.

Or more to the point, de/reinstall ASIO4ALL.

I'm thinking now that the issue isn't with ASIO4ALL, but rather that ACID Music Studio doesn't like the iMic external USB audio device.

I tried reverting my hard drive to a point previous to my first ACID Music Studio install atempt to eliminate the preferences issue. The result was the same.

I also tried unistalling and reinstalling ASIO4ALL. No difference.

Admittedly, the iMic is a lame $40 device, but on this same machine, Reason, Renoise, FL Studio and even ACID Music XPress are all using it (and ASIO4ALL) without issue, so to me, that points to an issue internal to ACID Music Studio.

I also tried another generic USB external audio device and the result was the same. I don't think ACID Music Studio likes external driverless USB audio devices.

If ACID Music Xpress can see it, then ACID Music Studio can see it.

Please answer these questions:

- How did you get it to work with Music Express?

From AMS7's Audio Device Preference page:
- Do you have an ASIO4ALL option listed in the Audio device type combo box?
- If you do, and you select it, what shows up in the "Default playback device" combo box?

- You say that AMS forces you to use the Realtek device. Have you configured ASIO4All to use the iMic?
