Seems like there's a ton of questions and requests to be able to do the things that CD architect once did. Is anyone listening at SF? Even on a non pro user use, these questions arise of how to burn an entire MP3 album, or how to burn a large wave file of a live performance or a recorded Vinyl side. Why don't you guys enable v5.0 to recognize CD architect and have it bundled with SF 5.0 and have a disclaimer that this software is no longer supported and you must have a MMC compliant CDR? You should even post Cd architect in your free downloads section once you implement it in 5.0. Seems like you're doing this with acoustic modeler now. You're not selling that anymore but you bundled that with 5.0, so what the heck is the difference? When are you gonna listen to the customer's needs and do something about this? Guys, I'm a electrical engineer doing designing on, CD and DVD mechanisms and I know when my company decides to not develope a feature or get rid of something the customer desires, then we lose sales to other companies. It's the basic principles of supply and domand. Right now everyone's domanding for CD architect and SF is refusing to supply it, guess where your sales are going? The same place your stocks have been going. Get a clue, Brian Franz |

Brian, i agree with you but the reason Sonic Foundry doesn't want to add CD Architect to SF5 seems pretty obvious to me. if they incorporate it in SF5 they will have to support it. all the way. they will have to spend time solving problems users might have, not to mention making upgrades, answering e-mails, hiring people to spend time on the program, etc. now i'm not saying i like it, but from their point of view i can understand it. they decided to drop it in order to save time/money/whatever. and yes, i too feel this has been a dumb move by Sonic Foundry. but there it is and no matter how much we complain, they will not bring it back. or they would have done it by now, don't you think? in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if Sound Forge 5 is going to be the last version altogether. Sonic Foundry seems to focus on Vegas and related programs rather than the audio tools they became famous with. call me negative, but really, i wouldn't be surprised if in the next year or so Sound Forge will get the same treatment as CD Architect has now. a few updates maybe, only to come to a sudden stop just like that. besides, who needs Sound Forge 5 when you have Sound Forge 4.5 (with CD Architect) or even Wavelab? |

I totally agree with you and the SF reasoning not wanting to spend the resources on supporting CD architect. The only problem with this is that they won't have to support sound forge either because, no one will purchase a program that has only half the functionality that everyone needs. This was also my prediction when they first discontinued CD architect. That this would mean the demise of Sound Forge. I just thought SF would be smart enough to release a new version of Sound Forge that would pick up where CD architect left off. No one ever totally wipes out functionality of a program without adding something better to replace it. This is just bad business thinking. |
