I an an attny -- I want to "clean-up" a mono voice recording (actually, the testimony of a witness recorded by the Court) -- I have SF5; but I lack knowledge. Can you recommend a beginner's book, or other instructions on how to go about the task at hand. (I already was successfull in transferring from a tepe to a digital file; the tape is 48 minutes long; I have 24 tapes to go, if I want to have access to the entire trial. I envision transferring the recordings to CD, probably in MP3 format.) TIA. Paul. |

Hi Paul, SF5 provides some Repair features (under the Tools menu) that allow you to manually fix clicks, pops, etc. But for continuous noise problems (and really big projects, like the one you're describing), you may need to get Sonic Foundry's Noise Reduction product. It provides more powerful features for cleaning up audio files, and it can clean the files automatically, rather than you having to work on each problem by hand. Best, Scott -- Scott R.
