Subject:AP7 content download (fail)

I tried two times to download the content which is included with the purchase of AP7(download). I suppose it is too large for my ISP/system to handle. Probably times out. Ordered and paid for the AP7 disc to be shipped (assuming content would be included in package) but apparently the content does not ship with the progrm disc package.

Has anyone else had a similar issue and what might be another approach to obtain the content.

Thanks for any help.

The download works, myself and thousands of others have it. Too large for our ISP it not acceptable. The files are just normal files, and I have downloaded similar size files many times. You say "probably" times out, but what happens exactly?

If you are using a telephone modem to download, then yes, it will be a PITA. But it you have broadband, there is no reason that you would have problems.

Thanks for your response.

I follow the procedure to download and the dialog indicates it will take thirty minutes or so to download. I come back later to see that the download has failed. I am on a wireless net and internet connection is broadband.

Glad to hear you and thousands of others have had no problems. I, however, am having a problem and the purpose of this thread is to solicit help with my problem.

Thanks again,
Geoffrey

What is probably happening is your wireless setup is timing out due to no activity from your computer to the outside. Try disabling the wireless and going with a direct hard-wired connection via a cat 5 or 6 ethernet cable. All broadband modems have the ability to go with a wired connection.

This timing out is a security measure that can probably be changed in your modem's setup. Call your isp to get help.

Another thought comes to mind: you may be at the limits of your wireless system. Or your going through multiple walls or floors. Or you have a lot of metal framing in your house that messes with the signal.

I don't have Acid 7 so have no idea what the download size is. What is the size and what's your connection speed?

Thanks, Jack.

I'm in my "basement studio" I'll give the direct connect upstairs a try soon and report back.

I turned off the timeout feature in my wireless router and i've been a much happier camper ever since. There's also usually a feature that will "ping" the upstream ISP at set intervals to keep them from timing you out, and this is a wonderful thing too.
