Subject:Sending MIDI to AutoTune?

Okay, I know that ACID doesnt allow for directing effecting using vsts ON MIDI tracks, and this can be got around by applying the effect to the INSTURMENT but this is something different Im talking about.

In AutoTune 5 you have the abillity to send a MIDI file to be read by Auto-tune, and then Auto-Tune will essentially copy that MIDI file and use it to target notes. hmm, that didnt make sense, try again.

I have an audio track with a vocal line on it. This has AutoTune in the effects.

I have a MIDI track playing the same melody that I want my vocal to be doing.

It IS possible in AutoTune to get AutoTune to read the MIDI and play the audio part alongside it. Essentially the MIDI file becomes a 'map' for the AutoTune and tells it where to pitch shift my vocal too. Does this make sense?

Anyways, I cant work out how to send the midi information to autotune.

I cant find help anywhere, it seems REALLY easy in cubase and Sonar according to the internet tutorials, but I cant seem to get it to happen in ACID.

You can't send MIDI to an effect in Acid because Acid by design isn't programmed to do so.

Rewire this segment using something like FL Studio.
Then print it and bring it back into ACID.
You can get the cheapest version of FL to handle this, it eases the cost of buying lots of FL exclusive stuff etc.
