I saw several fixes that appear to be directly taken from users' posts on this very forum (including 2 of mine). They do listen and this list of fixes/updates is great.

Thanks Madison group.

Thanks EVERYBODY!

1] Load Times - 45 seconds for 1st instance and same for 2nd instance - that's like 1.5mins. The same was taking 3.5 minutes. That's a shaving off of 2 mins

2] Switch Layouts - after initial hiccup, 3 seconds!! Using Windows layout WITH my FXs more like 12 seconds to load.

3] Veg Revealed in Project Media Window! GOOD!

Thanks SCS . .

Glad to see some fixes of the problems I mentioned both in this forum, and to SCS support!

However, installation of the 64bit version was NOT successful (at the very last stage, I got the message that the installation wizard did not complete and the state of my system was not changed).

Interestingly, the 9a 64bit seems to work OK in spite of that... Anyone with the same experience?

RE Red frames when switch to other applications while V9 was already open: after installing V9a, I was able to successfully switch to several other applications, open new applications, etc., and when I switched back to Vegas 9a, there were no Red frames on the timeline. Has anyone else found success with V9a regarding this issue also? If so, that's a great improvement also.

64 bit loaded without a hitch for me.

I'm getting large audio POPS when two volume envelope points are directly on a straight cut. Raising or lowering volume doesn't matter as long as the two envelope points reside on the same 90 degree angle as the video track butt cut. Same problem 64 bit and 32 bit. Didn't notice this in 9.0

xberk: what does this mean? Numerous localization improvements.

Localization is the translation of the software into different languages (French, Spanish, German and Japanese).

Is Capture fixed? I couldn't capture anything using either 32 or 64bit v9. I had to roll back to 8. I was getting an "unable to preview" error and nothing was getting captured...

This is using a Canon HV30.

I'm seeing the same sort of thing Grazie...much improved load times. I'm getting good render times too.

64-bit version...no issue installing. Looks like the fix resolved the 2 or 3 issues I was seeing. Sweet.

Hats off to the Madison crowd. Your reward: Culver's Butter burgers for ALL!!!

Localization fixes would relate to languages. If you have a french version of Vegas , for example...

Sony, way to go on the project media window space improvements... Huge difference!

No problems installing 64bit.

Thanks Sony Creative! Been using 8.0c 'til this was released.

And that has got to be the longest list of fixes I've ever seen on a Vegas update.

Very happy with Sony team today!

Hi All

Not good news here 32 and 64 both update and clean install do not fix the smart render problem that they (Sony) told me last week was sent for fixing

So well done Sony send out a fix that does not fix a problem

Sony even sent me a message to download the a files

That shows how much testing was done with the fix

Still it is nice to see others happy with the a version

"do not fix the smart render problem that they (Sony) told me last week was sent for fixing"

What smart render problem are you having? All of the formats which should smart render on my machine are indeed smart rendering just fine. This suggests that the smart render problem is not universal and is specific to certain machine configurations.

"That shows how much testing was done with the fix"

That doesn't show me anything other than this may be a more difficult problem to resolve.

files from my Canon HG10 will *kind of* SmartRender. That is V9 will smartrender until it detects the first change in the native file. After that all bets are off and everything get recompressed regardless if it was changed or not. If I put two clips in the timeline with a 1 second crossfade norecompession rendering will happen until the crossfade. After that the entire second clip (or anything to follow) is recompressed. to make sure it is not the file I use the same file twice in the timeline

If I make the m2ts file in vegas not from my camara it smat remders as it should

I am not the only one here with the problem others have posted about it

To make lif intersting if I take my 1440 x 1080 HG10 files through Cyberlink Espresso demo convertor programme and choose 1920 x 1080 m2ts output
the converted files smart render in Vegas just fime

And no I am not paying for espresso I paid enough for vegas 9 pro

At first Sony took an attitude about the problem like you have saying all was well there end

After a Lot of messages back and forth Last week Eric C said he had found the same error on his test PC with the file I sent him and was notifiing the software folk

So tonight you can imagine how happy I was to get an Email from Eric C saying to download the software a update Great it must be fixed but no it is not

for Sony to tell me to get the a upgrade only to find it does not work tells me it was not tested re my problem 'cos if it had been tested why did Eric C tell me to download

Sorry the AVCHD smart-render isn't working for some, but what about playback?

Is it still lagging and then picking up speed a few seconds into the clip (event)?

I used up my V9 trial on the first version, any feedback would be appretiated!

"That is V9 will smartrender until it detects the first change in the native file."

Fair enough. I did not try this particular scenario using an AVCHD file, so I had never seen it.

It seems as though the Canon HG10 files are non-standard since Vegas will handle its own AVCHD files as well as Cyberlink Espresso files. This wouldn't be the first time that Canon has fudged the specs of a camcorder's video file. Nevertheless, as you expect, Vegas will have to recognize and compensate for the Canon's files.

I don't use AVCHD files very often, they still have too many problems in all NLEs, not just Vegas.

Can install x32 - but x64 installation says: Installation was NOT successful - but x64 seems to work anyway.
No problem - can do well with x32 as it previews the same file (a &%¤#§ AVCHD high profile) 2-3 times faster as x64.

Still can not open .vegs from 8.0c (red frames etc) but also no problem - can finish the projects in 8.0c.

"So well done Sony send out a fix that does not fix a problem"

Oh come on David get serious will ya?
That smart render issue was brought forward to them MAYBE a week ago at the most. Do you SERIOUSLY think they had time to analyze and fix inside of a week????

My guess is that the fix will be on the next patch.

Fair point blink

but why send me a link to download an update if it did not work for me
