Hello all... About a week ago, I decided to appease the Windows Update box and upgrade to IE 8. Not that I use it much, but I do for certain things. Anyway, I went to use SF 9.0e shortly after that and it would hang on the splash screen with message, "Initializing audio engine..." After a great amount of troubleshooting since Friday, including following directions in the Knowledgebase for a fresh reinstall and a hung app on splash screen. Nothing worked. No help from tech support either. What did work was to remove IE 8, which was the last change I made to my system. Just thought I would share that here in case this happens to someone else. |

The 'update' to Internet Exploder 8 has also caused problems in other audio programs - Sonar being one. Solution: don't do the update and for web work use Firefox. Jack |

After installing some newer Microsoft software there are certain applications that hang. This is because they rely on an older version of the C++ runtime than what's provided. I think Microsoft has placed a fix on their website but I am at a loss to remember where. I found out because Windows Vista gave me a find problems dialog. It gave me a link to information about a resolution and an installation package with an even newer C++ runtime in it. It fixed a similar problem with another application.
