DLT files on commercial DVD release

This is one of the oddest DVD defects I have seen. Today I purchased an 8 DVD set of the 1960s TV show "Route 66" and the last four discs would not play. It turns out that they have DDP image files on them instead of DVD content. Here is the layout of the discs:

Layer 0
CONTROL.DAT (33KB)
DDPID (1KB)
MAIN.DAT (2GB)

Layer 1
CONTROL.DAT (33KB)
DDPID (1KB)
MAIN.DAT (2GB)

Is there any way I can open and view this data with Vegas 8.0c (build 260)?

TMK, there is no way to open DDP files in Vegas.
You can't open the layers in Architect either.
That is very odd that a commercial replicator wouldn't have caught this.
