Subject:AP7 Crashes with Waves VST Plug Ins

Hi I have been unable to run Waves VST plug ins in AP7 which just crashes out as soon as I click on the 'Add' button in the effect plug in loader. I'm running AP 7.0c build 653 and the very latest version of Waves 6 R5 with an Echo Indigo audio card on Windows XP SP3. I don't have any problems with running the Waves plug ins in Sound Forge or in the other audio apps I am running (FL Studio 8, Project 2.5). Does anyone know of a workaround in AP7 or can you advise if this is a known limitation in AP7 for which there is no current solution? I would be very grateful for any advice. I have appended the crash log in case this could help in finding a solution. Many thanks SRW ACID Pro 7.0 Version 7.0c (Build 653) Exception 0xC0000005 (access violation) WRITE:0x0DF5E414 IP:0x74985C59 In Module 'msxml3.dll' at Address 0x74980000 + 0x00005C59 |

Are you adding the plug-in to a Track or bus? Does this problem happen with any other all Waves plug-ins or a specific one? The crash log is incomplete. It is usually longer and contains details about the crash. Peter |

Hi Peter Thanks for your prompt response. The problem is occuring on both track and bus and with all Waves plug ins. Here is the full crash dump when loading to a bus: ACID Pro 7.0 Version 7.0c (Build 653) Exception 0xC0000005 (access violation) WRITE:0x0D96E414 IP:0x74985C59 In Module 'msxml3.dll' at Address 0x74980000 + 0x00005C59 Thread: GUI ID=0x814 Stack=0x0012D000-0x00130000 Registers: EAX=0d96e3e4 CS=001b EIP=74985c59 EFLGS=00210206 EBX=0019b1dc SS=0023 ESP=0012dc1c EBP=0012dc70 ECX=0000004a DS=0023 ESI=00176b70 FS=003b EDX=0012dc90 ES=0023 EDI=00000001 GS=0000 Bytes at CS:EIP: 74985C59: FF 40 30 C3 8B 46 04 C1 .@0..F.. 74985C61: E8 02 F7 D0 83 E0 01 50 .......P Stack Dump: 0012DC1C: 749D71E3 74980000 + 571E3 (msxml3.dll) 0012DC20: 00000001 0012DC24: 00176B70 00150000 + 26B70 0012DC28: 0019B1DC 00150000 + 4B1DC 0012DC2C: 00350034 00350000 + 34 0012DC30: 002D0033 00290000 + 40033 0012DC34: 00010032 00010000 + 32 0012DC38: 00390032 00390000 + 32 0012DC3C: 0012DB98 00030000 + FDB98 0012DC40: 00360046 00360000 + 46 0012DC44: 0012DE18 00030000 + FDE18 0012DC48: 7C90E920 7C900000 + E920 (ntdll.dll) 0012DC4C: 7C910060 7C900000 + 10060 (ntdll.dll) 0012DC50: FFFFFFFF 0012DC54: 7C91005D 7C900000 + 1005D (ntdll.dll) 0012DC58: 0012DC20 00030000 + FDC20 > 0012DC64: 749A8273 74980000 + 28273 (msxml3.dll) > 0012DC68: 749D72D8 74980000 + 572D8 (msxml3.dll) > 0012DC74: 0078B32F 00400000 + 38B32F (acid70.exe) 0012DC78: 01D18858 01D10000 + 8858 0012DC7C: 0012DC90 00030000 + FDC90 0012DC80: 0012DC88 00030000 + FDC88 0012DC84: 0019AAE0 00150000 + 4AAE0 > 0012DC90: 006C0070 00400000 + 2C0070 (acid70.exe) > 0012DC94: 00670075 00400000 + 270075 (acid70.exe) > 0012DC98: 006E0069 00400000 + 2E0069 (acid70.exe) > 0012DC9C: 0040005B 00400000 + 5B (acid70.exe) > 0012DCA0: 00550047 00400000 + 150047 (acid70.exe) - - - 0012FFF0: 00000000 0012FFF4: 00000000 0012FFF8: 00849401 00400000 + 449401 (acid70.exe) 0012FFFC: 00000000 |

Your FX database may be corrupt. Does it happen with any other VST plugins? A possible solution: On WinXP (you did not fill out your system specs!) locate the folder: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Sony\ACID Pro\7.0 or on Vista: C:\Users\<name>\appdata\Local\Sony\ACID Pro\7.0 Locate the file: acidpro.plugincache.xml Delete this file while ACID is not running. Restart ACID. This will force ACID to rebuild your FX data base. NOTE: If you have reoganized or edited your plug-in manager folders, you will loose all of the information. So you may want to back up this file if this does NOT solve your Waves problem. Peter |

Hi Peter To answer your question, I had the same problem with Korg MDE effects earlier last week but strangely this did not re-occur when I used them later in the week. With regard to the Waves problem I tried deleting acidpro.plugincache.xml but this did not stop the crashes. I have now uninstalled both Waves and AP7 and reinstalled Waves and then AP7 in that order. This seems to have fixed the problem for the time being. Thanks anyway for your very prompt help Simon |
